TagPro Power-Ups

What each power-up does, when to use it, and how to track respawns.

TagPro has three power-ups — Juke Juice, Rolling Bomb and TagPro — which sit at fixed spots on the map, last 20 seconds, and respawn 60 seconds after being picked up.

A ball drives straight into a spike and survives — the Rolling Bomb fires automatically and is consumed instead.

Power-ups decide games. Ignore them and you lose to teams that don't.

What does Juke Juice do?

You accelerate faster and reach top speed sooner. That's it — but it makes you dramatically harder to catch.

Best on whoever is carrying the flag, or whoever is chasing.

The same dodge past a defender run twice, with and without Juke Juice. The Juke Juice run gets away.

What does Rolling Bomb do?

Two completely different uses, and most new players only know the first.

Press spacebar to release a blast that throws every nearby ball away from you. Good for clearing a base or breaking up a chase.

It also saves your life automatically. If anything would pop you, the bomb fires instead and you survive. That covers spikes, green and enemy gates, an enemy carrying TagPro, getting tagged while you hold the flag, and the centre of a gravity well.

Either use consumes it.

  • Don't waste it early. If you detonate it before you grab the flag, you threw away your best escape.
  • Never detonate near your own flag carrier. You'll launch them into a spike or straight at a chaser.

A Rolling Bomb detonated manually in a crowded base throws three balls away from the centre.

What does the TagPro power-up do?

Your ball gets a green ring. Any opponent you touch pops.

  • If you're carrying the enemy flag and have TagPro, touching an opponent pops both of you. Usually not worth it.
  • Generally, don't grab the flag with TagPro. Clear the base and let a teammate take it.
  • Don't park on your own flag and sit still — you're burning 20 seconds doing nothing.

A ball with the green TagPro ring touches an opponent. The opponent pops and the ringed ball keeps rolling.

How do you track power-up respawns?

This is the part good players actually do.

  • 60 seconds after a power-up is grabbed, it comes back. Note the time on the clock when you take one.
  • Didn't see it get taken? If you watch one wear off, the next spawn is 40 seconds away.
  • Call out spawn times to your team so the other side doesn't get them free.
  • You can't pick up a power-up while sitting on top of it. Wait just off the spawn point.

Which power-ups were retired?

Top Speed was replaced by Juke Juice and only appears on throwback maps. Rubber Band Ball never made it off the test server.
